This blog entry is going to be nothing but a solid emotional thrashing of smokers world-wide. From the time I was a middle school kid there has been nothing that bothers me more than the people of this world who smoke. My first point is that the action in itself is prolonged suicide. My second point is that in no way does this action make you look cool. While it may have been the cool thing when it first happened, the only people who think it might be cool are the same guys who are going down with them. My last point (that I will share) is that it hurts others. I hate how I cannot go anywhere or even walk through town without having to worry about the smokers around me. I am a runner and while it may sound selfish, I do not want people contaminating the air and my lungs with what I see as a toxin. I have trained my body and many people like me work hard to keep themselves healthy. Second hand smoke is not only disgusting but dangerous. I am doing my best to keep my body in the best shape I can so that I can live a long healthy life, I do not enjoy when people choose to ruin that for me with their own unhealthy habits. Smoking is atrocious and I hate it with my whole heart. Maybe it is simply because I do not understand or face it on a daily basis. If you smoke then consider this my own personal message to you, “STOP." Smoking is disgusting and it does nothing but kill people. I know that each of us has a choice and that we have the power within each of us to quit a habit such as this. I truthfully believe that it is the obligation of us to do our best to help others quit this nasty habit. Personally I do not want to be attending any love ones funeral. This may not be the most well written blog post but I hope that my view point is clearly made. Smoking will not be tolerated by Brady Shanklin in this world or the next. Nothing is pretty about it and my opinion will never change. Our bodies are amazing creations and we need to respect them.
Braydon I agree with you ! I have always heard smokers say that their freedom is being taken away when the ban statred here in Springfield. The funny thing is this: why should people who do not smoke, including children have to smell that. Second hand smoke is a big deal and in my opinion, the only selfish ones are the smokers themselves. I'm from California and when I moved out here 2 years ago I absolutely could not believe people were allowed to smoke inside restaurants. I don't even remember a time in California when smoking was allowed in restaurants. My point is, smokers should not complain that they cannot smoke in a public restaurant. When you do not smoke and never have smoked, the smell of cigarettes is like death, it is literally tough to breathe. I lived with my boyfriend and his mom for a while, she was a heavy smoker and smoked in the house. After living with them for a week I started having problems breathing and had to use an inhaler for a while. I agree with you though, "Our bodies are amazing creations and we need to respect them." I love that quote!
ReplyDeleteyes. I agree with you and Cassie Sumter. I am joining a ban smoke in public group, and we do a lot work, by giving speach, making video, showing people statis. Just want to show people how serious about secondheand smoke.
